Camp Day 4 Comments
It was a quiet Thursday for the Oregon State football team. The Beavers are preparing for the first full-gear workout Friday afternoon. That should be interesting to see how the intensity picks up.
Check out the above video and interview with QB Sean Canfield done by the GT Internet guru, Graham Kislingbury.
Bad slide
Canfield put a scare into the coaches during practice. He scrambled and tried to slide but got his knee brace stuck in the dirt and it jarred him to a stop. The brace came apart but he was unharmed.
He tore up his throwing shoulder in a game in a similar fashion, sliding late and taking a late hit. So there were some flashbacks going on.
“We have to get that old slip-and-slide out so he can practice,” coach Mike Riley said. “I think he needs to slide on his rear-end. Throw you feet out. That’s the best, but he might need a little work.”
Moevao update
It scared the Beavers because the backup QB, Lyle Moevao (shoulder), is still not doing much in practice. He’s not throwing to anyone at full speed. He did a throwing workout with the trainer and he just lobbed the ball 25 yards, and threw on a soft line 20 yards.
Kristick a Bednarik candidate
Senior LB Keaton Kristick is on the watch list of the Chuck Bednarik Award, given annual by the Maxwell Football Club to the top defensive player in the nation. He’s one of 56 players on the list.
Kristick is also one of 41 players on the watch list for the Lott Trophy, which takes into account character and performance.
Injury update
Starting WR Darrell Catchings (sick) didn’t practice. Reserve WR Kevan Walker (headaches) was held out. He was hit hard on the last play of Wednesday’s practice. S Anthony Watkins (hamstring) remains out.
