First off, let’s let out a big hip, hip, hooray. The season opening Sept. 5 home game for the Oregon State football team against Portland State kicks off at 11:35 a.m., broadcast on FSN NW.

I can’t tell you the joy that brings me. But will the Beavers be awake for the game?

“We will get up,” coach Mike Riley said. “That is no problem whatsoever. If you are playing back east that would be the time of the day. That won’t be a problem.”

Injury update
Wednesday was a rough day in terms of injuries. CB Keynan Parker went down with a dislocated shoulder and will be out three-four weeks, Riley said.

Practice ended with WR Kevan Walker on the ground clutching his shoulder area. There will be more on him later. WR Casey Kjos dinged an ankle.

However, WR Markus Wheaton (lower leg) and WR Geno Munoz (cramps) returned. S Anthony Watkins (hamstring) sat out after being hurt Tuesday.

Getting rough
It was the first day with shoulder pads, so there was some hitting. The OL vs. DL middle drill was run. There were no altercations.

“That’s good,” Riley said. “We’ve had good speed in practice. Whenever you put the pads on, especially the first time, everything picks up.”

MIA
Junior WR Kyle Brown won’t report until after the first game, Riley said. He’s still recovering from his ongoing, various injuries.
