The Oregon State men’s basketball coaches have plans to stay busy throughout in the summer even though the players are on break from school and them, assistant coach Dough Stewart said.
There are team and day camps this weekend with various Northwest high schools coming to OSU. The Beavers look to help area players, raise some money and possibility find a diamond in the rough regionally.
July is a recruiting month. Coaches will disperse across the country to watch AAU summer basketball for 20 days. Then there’s another camp in August.
The players return to campus for summer school in the middle of July, and then hit it hard with the strength and conditioning staff.
The Beavers have one verbal commitment for the 2010 recruiting class in PG Ahmad Starks, according to recruiting services, and have three more to go. They even have a PG for 2011 committed in Jahii Carson.
Coach Craig Robinson previously said he’s trying to get guys for all areas on the court each class. So expect at least a wing player and a big guy in both groups.
