Football notes, Levitre update Comments
Oregon State offensive lineman Andy Levitre has been invited to the NFL combine, his agent Leo Goeas said Thursday. Levitre will workout for scouts at the Feb. 18-21 event in Indianapolis. He will also go through physicals, IQ tests and interviews there.
Soon after the Sun Bowl Levitre went to Colorado to train for the Jan. 24 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. After the game he’ll return to Colorado to prepare for the combine. Levitre is considered one of the top two guards in the country. The NFL Network and Pro Football Weekly ranke him No. 1. Mel Kiper has him No. 2.
“He has had a great college career,” Goeas said. “This is putting the icing on the cake. The body of his work is phenomenal. It’s a big challenge ahead, but he’ll be fine.”
The outline of spring practice was on the blog a while back, but OSU recently released the dates. Spring practice begins March 30 and the spring game is May 2.
The Beavers will work out three times a week for five weeks. Approximate starts are 3 p.m. and run to about 5 p.m.
Here are the dates if you are planning to watch them: March 30, April 1,3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, May 2.
Here’s a link to my story in Thursday’s GT on the players going into Saturday’s East-West Shrine Game. I interview an NFL scout who wanted to remain anonymous, so he doesn’t tip his organization’s hand, about what scouts think of these Beavers.
