Super Bowl weekend notes Comments

After that extremely early morning workout Friday for the Oregon State baseball team, the Beavers had the weekend off because a camp was in the indoor center all weekend. It’s back to the grind Monday at 3 p.m.

Here is Friday’s story I wrote looking at the team and showing what has to be done in the next three weeks to get ready for the season opener Feb. 22: http://www.gazettetimes.com/articles/2008/02/02/sports/beaver_sports/top_story/3osu01_baseball.txt

The wrestling team faces Stanford in a Pac-10 meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Gill Coliseum. If you aren’t glued to the epic pregame show and the commercials, the Beavers are throwing a special Super Bowl party after their match. Fans are invited for $3 with a ticket stub.

The team preformed well Friday night in a 23-12 win over UC Davis. Heinrich Barnes (141 pounds) continues to be the most exciting wrestler on the team. He sparked the team’s comeback run. Here’s the story, also working in the brother angle for the print readers who don’t read the blog: http://www.gazettetimes.com/articles/2008/02/02/sports/beaver_sports/wrestling/top_story/2osu05_wres.txt

With the big game is Sunday, there will be a few Kevin Boss related items in the GT about the Philomath High grad starting at TE for the Giants. OSU alum OT Adam Koets is a backup on that team. We tried to call him this week for an update, but didn’t get a response. Maybe we’ll get him later.
