Here’s the update from Oregon State football coach Mike Riley about the team’s injuries:
+ Cornerback Keenan Lewis (knee) is out two-three weeks. Sophomore Tim Clark will take his place, with support from Gerard Lawson.
“It’s not good,” Riley said. “He’s walking around in a brace. He’ll be fine, but it will take a while.”
+ Wide receiver Sammie Stroughter (bruised kidney) is out for the second straight week.
“We are still talking with the doctor about the future,” Riley said. “I’ll know more Tuesday.”
+ Offensive guard Jeremy Perry (leg) is on track to return for the Oct. 27 Stanford game. He’ll start running this week and practice during the bye week.
+ Safety Daniel Drayton (groin) is still hurting from the Sept. 29 injury, but has a chance to return this week.

Hey Cliff, do you know if Keenan’s injury is going to affect David Ross’s redshirt status?

is it too late for sammie to take a medical redshirt? he may be better coming back next year after canfield gets this year of seasoning behind him, although at that point we wont have bernard…

Sammie Stroughter would be eligible for a medical redshirt if he doesn’t play in another game this year, he has played in the maximum three games so far this year. Read somewhere that he or OSU have to provide medical documentation to the NCAA that his kidney injury is a season ending injury for him to receive the medical redshirt year. It appears that we will know about Stroughter’s status Tuesday.

Tim Clark and Gerard Lawson are filling in for Lewis. Ross is still redshirting.

Stroughter is at the limit of three games. He needs a doctor to say it wouldn’t be good for him to come back at all. Paperwork must be sent to the NCAA and it approves it or not.

Is Jake Gelakoska (sp?) a QB recruit from Washington last year on campus? I heard he was academically ineligible but made it into school. thanks.

it would be nice to have sammie this year to go along with bernard but could you guys imagine our passing game next year if sammie uses a medical redshirt? catchings, rodgers, morales and sammie! and a qb with a full yr under his belt. i think canfield will be pretty good, next year. this year he will get seasoned. next year he will be good and maybe really good with those wr’s and sammie!
